It just underscores what I wrote earlier this week: under First Past the Post, Farage could win a huge Parliamentary majority on a minority of the vote. We know its possible, because Keir Starmer just did it!
A proportional system would let Reform UK voters be heard without silencing everyone else. No more tactical voting. No more swing seats. A fair, democratic coalition to stop the far-right could finally take shape.
But the threat doesn’t stop at the electoral system. Parties, especially Reform, are raking in donations from billionaires. They’re stoking fear over imaginary crises online.
If we end up with a political map like the one above, the blame lies with those who let this broken system persist.
It’s long past time we had a level playing field. It’s long past time we had a functional politics. It’s long past time that Farage fought fair.
We’ll keep exposing the rigged system behind the public’s frustrations. We’ll keep working in Parliament with the APPG for Fair Elections – now officially the largest APPG – to bring in the safeguards that democracy needs. And we’ll keep working with all of you to build a movement that can put the pressure on Starmer to finally wake up and see the writing on the wall.
And together, we’ll build a country that actually reflects the will of the people.
