[1]The Long Run PAC
Team — it’s Mandela Barnes.
When we launched The Long Run PAC two years ago, a lot of people asked me where the name came from.
Part of the reason for the name is simply that I like to run. Running has taught me that winning a race isn’t about what you do on race day – it’s about how you’ve trained and prepared. You have to devote time and resources in early phases to prepare for that run.
That made the mission of The Long Run clear from the start: Provide support to changemaking candidates from diverse, working-class backgrounds who are running to transform their communities for the better.
And so we named ourselves “The Long Run” because that crucial mission is going to take time — time to invest in candidates on the ground, time to bring people together around a progressive vision, time to build winning grassroots campaigns.
We have already seen the results of those investments in last year’s election, with five Long Run-endorsed Senate candidates and six House candidates winning tough races. And we saw it just last month with our big win in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race.
So look, I know this isn’t exactly an optimistic time. Trump’s rule over the country has so far led to chaos, lawlessness, and hardship for many. A lot of us are wondering what’s next, what we can do in the face of right-wing governance.
But I want you to remember that, just like running a race, the kind of change we want to make is going to take time. The Long Run is going to continue to focus on our mission of supporting incredible candidates around the country.
And over time, our victories will continue to add up until we’ve built the kind of movement that defeats the far-right every time.
So please: If you want to support that work, and power The Long Run for the days ahead, please make a contribution of $5 or whatever you can afford today. Every dollar we invest right now helps us get started on our long-term goals.

Thank you so much for your support over the last two years. I look forward to working together to fight back.
