Stephen Miller says Trump administration is "actively looking" at suspending habeas corpus
During a press appearance on Friday, senior adviser and resident white nationalist Stephen Miller detailed another possible prong of the Trump regime's attempts to target unauthorized immigrants: suspending habeas corpus. "The Constitution is clear — and that of course is the supreme law of the land — that the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus can be suspended in a time of invasion," Miller said. "So it’s an option that we’re actively looking at." Habeas corpus has — as enshrined in the Constitution — helps shield people from unlawful detention, and ensures that they’re able to contest their incarceration in court. It translates to “you should have the body” in Latin and guarantees that individuals are able to physically appear in front of a judge if they are detained. Any suspension of habeas corpus would further undercut due process protections for individuals who are detained by the Trump administration as the White House seeks to ramp up immigrant deportations. And if you think they'll stop there, might we interest you in a bridge?
Take Action: Tax the rich!

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump panics as his top priority craters
In his latest Truth Social screed, the MAGA cult leader is trying to have it both ways when it comes to tax cuts for the rich. He's pretending to be open to taxing his buddies with a dash of faux populism while clearly signaling to congressional Republicans that raising taxes on the wealthy is a non-starter, warning his party that electoral losses will follow if they do because Democrats will summon ghosts of elections past and hammer them for flip-flopping on core principles. The only option here, then, is to continue letting the megawealthy run roughshod over ordinary Americans and stick middle- and lower-class folks with the bill. Because their hands are tied! Got it.

GOP silent as Trump and Elon backstab our veterans
VoteVets: Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s relentless efforts to gut the federal government and dismantle its agencies is a full-fledged attack on our veterans. One-third of the federal workforce are veterans. DOGE’s budget cuts are gutting veteran livelihoods, public service careers, and threatening their access to essential care. That’s why VoteVets is launching a movement to fight back and restore the institutions that our vets risked their lives to protect. Will you add your name and stand with our veterans against Donald Trump’s rampage?
White House to take choice of Pentagon chief of staff out of Hegseth’s hands
Welp, that didn't last long. Trump's DUI hire to run the Dept. of Defense is off to such a disastrous start, the White House is effectively neutering the former Fox News talking head and installing a hand-picked nanny to oversee Sec. Hegseth's day-to-day operations. Bang-up job, Pete!

You heard me right: Top Trump confidant calls for Democratic senator to be tried and executed
Roger Stone is back on his bullshit. And this time he's hurling heinous accusations and calling for retired astronaut, sitting Arizona senator, and former vice presidential short-lister Mark Kelly to be tried and executed for treason. All because Kelly has more than a slight problem with Donald Trump's "blatant" crypto coin corruption and wants legislation enacted to curtail it. Seriously.

New Jersey mayor arrested outside ICE facility after protest with members of Congress
Newark, New Jersey Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested outside an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center in Elizabeth on Friday as the mayor and members of Congress joined demonstrations demanding answers from Donald Trump’s administration about the conditions inside, marking a major escalation of immigration protests surrounding the facility. Videos from outside the facility showed a chaotic scene with masked federal officers pushing against a crowd in the detention center’s parking lot as Baraka was shoved towards the building and then placed in handcuffs. New Jersey’s interim US Attorney Alina Habba (yes, seriously) — Trump’s personal attorney — accused the mayor of trespassing and ignoring warnings from federal law enforcement agents to leave. Lawmakers gathered in Newark on Friday to demand answers from ICE following the opening of the private, for-profit facility that can detain more than 1,000 people. The building is near Newark Liberty International Airport, which has been used by the federal government to stage removal flights.
You called me. No — you called ME. Before US-China meeting, nations each say the other wanted talks
Oh, good. Nice to know adults are in all the rooms and no one's playing chicken as Trump's tariff crusade pushes us closer to the precipice.

Vulnerable GOP Trump-enabler Susan Collins has a Democratic challenger
Jordan for Maine: Susan Collins is wringing her hands over Trump’s destruction of our Constitution. She says she’s “concerned” but does nothing to stop him. She even voted against his impeachment because, in her words, he had “learned his lesson.” Obviously he hasn’t, but that hasn’t stopped her from looking the other way while he pillages our government. We’ve got a chance to replace Susan Collins and take back the Senate. Democrat Jordan Wood announced he’s running against her to do just that. Jordan’s a fighter who won’t take a DIME of corporate PAC money, so he needs our grassroots support. Will you chip in to help Jordan Wood flip the Senate and defeat Susan Collins?
Insurance denies man a life-saving lung transplant as he was preparing for procedure
A man was preparing to fly across the country for a life-changing double-lung transplant when his insurance company denied him coverage. Deron Wells is battling stage 4 lung cancer. The husband and father of three is also now battling his insurance company. "I am really sad that my life is in the hands of these decision-makers who seem to make these decisions in such a cold way," Wells said. The 59-year-old and his family say Cigna had approved him for procedures that would allow him to be transferred to Northwestern Medicine in Chicago for a clinical trial double lung transplant he had been medically approved for. As they were preparing to leave UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center on Friday, Cigna denied coverage for both the transplant and medical transfer to Illinois. As Wells awaits an appeal, friends have launched a fundraising campaign to help him get the life-saving transplant — an all-too-familiar story highlighting the shameful moral failings of our for-profit healthcare system.
