I want to tell you about why we need Gina Ortiz Jones’ leadership in
Washington.

TX-23 is one of the most diverse districts in the country. It stretches from
San Antonio to El Paso, is larger than 30 states, and includes 40% of the U.S.
border with Mexico.

From lack of access to affordable, quality health care, to failed immigration
and trade policies, to an economy that is leaving working families behind,
Texas’ 23rd Congressional District is on the front lines of so many of the
Trump administration’s failed policies.

Texas’ 23rd is also one of the most competitive congressional districts in the
entire country. In 2018, Gina Ortiz Jones came 926 votes short of unseating the
Republican incumbent. Now, her hard work and grassroots momentum have scared
him out of the race, giving Democrats a huge opportunity to flip the district
blue.

Like me, Gina was raised in San Antonio by a single mom, and has spent her
entire life in service to our country and her community. Gina served as an
intelligence officer in the U.S. Air Force and as a civil servant, including
serving in the Executive Office of the President in the Obama administration.
Gina will always prioritize the needs of South and West Texans above everything
else, and we need her fighting for us in Washington.

Gina’s mom taught her that talent is universal, but opportunity is not. She’s
working hard to make sure the opportunities she had to grow up healthy, get a
good education, and serve our country are available to all Texans and all
Americans. That’s why I’m supporting her.
