Fellow Conservative,
The budget reconciliation negotiations continued this week on Capitol Hill. House Republicans are trying to hash out a deal on a number of issues — if they fail to come to an agreement, the process cannot continue; leaving the Trump agenda in jeopardy.
Although D.C. is dominating the headlines, big things are happening at the state level as well. Perhaps most notably is what’s playing out in Colorado as the grassroots mobilizes against the Left to stop a radical gender ideology bill in its final stretch.
Budget Reconciliation Update
Progress slowed down on the all-important budget reconciliation this past week as negotiations continued, but the pace may pick up next week.
The remaining four House committees were scheduled to markup their respective portions of the budget resolution this week, but only the Natural Resources Committee completed their markup. The three remaining committees in the House (Agriculture, Energy & Commerce, and Ways and Means) were postponed to next week. These last three committees are working through issues that each have major sticking points for some members of the Republican Conference.
As a reminder, the budget reconciliation process may very well end up being the only way for President Trump’s key agenda items (such as preserving tax cuts and cutting spending) to pass through Congress and avoid the Senate filibuster. But all it takes is a few Republicans to cave to the pressure for President Trump’s agenda to fail. That’s why Heritage Action has created a Reconciliation Toolkit <[link removed]> for both first-time and seasoned activists to hold Congress accountable and ensure they deliver on President Trump’s policies.

Defeat the Deep State
President Trump’s landslide victory was a historic win against the radical Left and the deep state. His triumphant return to the White House has come with countless victories over the first 100 days of his presidency <[link removed]>, but he has had to fight tooth and nail for every inch of progress.
>>>Show your support for President Trump HERE<<< <[link removed]>
This is in large part due to the deep state that infects every federal agency and stifles any progress made on the President’s policies. That’s why it’s so critical that President Trump’s new classification for career government employees in policy-making positions is revived.
If federal employees fail to do their jobs, or actively undermine the President’s mission, the President should have the means to remove them from their positions.
Thankfully, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is crafting new regulations to reform this system but they need your support to get them over the line.

Standing Strong Against ‘Trans Tyranny’
Heritage Action has been engaged in Colorado on a number of issues, but one outrageous bill — HB25 1312 <[link removed]>, the Kelly Loving Act — has grabbed the attention of the grassroots more than any other, and for good reason. This bill is so disturbing that similar legislation in California was vetoed by Governor Gavin Newsom, a radical leftist in his own right.
Here’s just some of what it would do:
-
Destroy freedom of speech by forcing individuals to use the “chosen name” and “gender expression” of individuals struggling with gender dysphoria.
-
Prioritize indoctrination over education by mandating schools (of all grade levels) change their dress codes and naming policies, requiring them to be inclusive of all names and “gender expression” — for any reason whatsoever.
-
Put religious liberty at risk by allowing faith-based schools, organizations, and individuals to be targeted for lawsuits or government penalties for upholding biological truth.
Colorado conservatives have fought valiantly against the bill and have made real progress. As terrible as the bill is, Democrats were forced to amend the bill due to pressure. Originally, the bill would have defined calling a confused child by their birth name as child abuse. Although the amended version passed, there’s still time to kill the bill.
Governor Polis has yet to sign it into law, and Heritage Action is rallying the grassroots to urge him to VETO HB25 1312. If you or someone you know live in Colorado, please use this link to urge Governor Polis to make your voice heard <[link removed]>!
Looking Forward:
Make no mistake: Democrats in state legislatures around the country are pushing gender ideology legislation that targets our children. For the sake of our families, strong parental rights legislation, such as North Carolina’s HB 560 <[link removed]>, should be a top priority in every state. It’s up to the grassroots to ensure that Republicans in state legislatures fight to protect our values <[link removed]>, not kowtow to the trans extremists and woke mobs.

Action Alert: Upcoming FTC Deadline!
As a brief reminder, the FTC is requesting public testimony regarding cases of censorship by Big Tech. The deadline to submit your testimony is May 21st!
If you believe you have been targeted by Big Tech, now is the time to speak up <[link removed]>.
Gulf of AMERICA
This week the House passed legislation to codify President Trump’s executive order changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the much more appropriate (and patriotic!) Gulf of America.
Although admittedly some of the issues that Congress is dealing with right now are higher stakes than this, it’s always nice to have wins like this that make us proud to be American!
Thank you for all that you do to help us achieve those wins.
