Fighting To Preserve The American Steel Industry

This week, Representative Frank Mrvan (D-IN-01) and I sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent urging the Department to consider national security when reviewing foreign takeovers of U.S. steel companies.

"We share President Trump’s goal to revitalize the American steel industry so it can compete head-to-head with any country in the world by cracking down on illegal dumping and negotiating fair treatment for U.S. exports. We have confidence that you will conduct all foreign direct investment reviews with integrity, fairness, and in accordance with the law while protecting this critical supply chain, national security, and our workers’ interests." SAFE Home Act

Senator Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) and I introduced the SAFE Home Act. This legislation would prohibit agencies that receive federal funding for adoption and foster care from delaying or stopping a child’s placement because the parent wants to raise the child according to their biological sex.

Kids deserve safe, loving homes and parents shouldn’t be blocked from adopting or fostering just because they oppose irreversible sex-change procedures on children. This bill makes sure families aren’t punished for using common sense. Click here to learn more.

National Small Business Week

This week is National Small Business Week. Across America, we have more than 34 million small businesses that power our economy.

Indiana is home to over 520,000 of these businesses that provide more than 1.2 million jobs.

Hoosier small businesses make up 99.4% of all businesses in our state. Our entrepreneurs and small business owners are indispensable.

In the Senate, I’m working to support these job creators and empower them to thrive for the benefit of all Hoosiers.

Currently, my fellow Republican Senators and I are fighting to make the Trump tax cuts for individuals and small businesses permanent. If these tax cuts expire, American small businesses will get hit with a $600 billion tax hike.

American small businesses provide crucial goods and services to working families and I’m proud to stand in support of them.
