Dear John,

At a moment when our democracy is under attack, MAGA Republicans are trying to give Donald Trump – the very person fueling this constitutional crisis – the power to appoint 22 new federal judges.

The so-called JUDGES Act would entrench minority rule, cement Trump’s grip on the courts, and protect the wealth and power of the ultra-rich at the expense of everyone else.

Trump, backed by a network of right-wing billionaires, has already turned the courts into a weapon against civil rights, reproductive freedom, and democratic accountability. The MAGA majority on the Supreme Court has gutted voting rights, overturned Roe v. Wade, and declared billionaires can buy elections.

Now, Trump and his allies want to double down, filling the judiciary with even more handpicked loyalists who will serve the interests of oligarchs, not the people. This is not reform. It’s a hostile takeover of the judiciary by an authoritarian movement that wants to dismantle checks and balances.

Tell your Representative and Senators: Protect our checks and balances. Don’t let Trump further subjugate the judiciary to his whims. Reject the JUDGES Act now.

Trump is already ignoring court rulings, threatening and arresting judges, and defying the rule of law. In the shocking case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, Trump mistakenly deported a married father, who was residing in the United States legally, to a torture prison in El Salvador without charges or trial. He even laughed with the President of that country, pretending they could not possibly follow the Supreme Court’s order to bring him back.

Now, instead of holding Trump accountable, his allies want to give him even more power to remake the courts in his image.

If the JUDGES Act passes, Trump will be free to stack the lower courts with extremist judges who will rubber-stamp his attacks on immigrants, LGBTQ+ people, workers, and women – while shielding billionaires from scrutiny, taxation, or consequences. These are lifetime appointments, designed to protect a wealthy few while disempowering the vast majority of Americans for generations to come.

We can’t allow Congress to hand over the judiciary to a corrupt, authoritarian agenda.

Tell your Representative and Senators: Reject the JUDGES Act. Stop Trump’s oligarch-backed power grab. Protect our democracy – before it’s too late.
