Hi John,

My name is Cait Conley, I’m an Army combat veteran with six combat tours, a graduate of West Point, Harvard, and MIT, and now I’m in for one of the biggest fights of my life: running for Congress to flip New York’s 17th Congressional district from red to blue. NY-17 will be one of a handful of districts next year that will determine whether we can take back the House of Representatives. This is going to be a tough race – but I’ve never backed down from a fight.

In the special ops community, we have a saying: “Run to the sound of the guns.”

That’s what I’ve done my entire life. I joined the Army after 9/11. I deployed six times overseas serving in combat zones like Iraq and Afghanistan, hunting down brutal terrorists to keep America and the world safe. My service to my country matters above all else to me and was what fueled me even while serving for nearly a decade of my career under Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell as a proud member of the LGBTQ community.

Afterwards, I continued my service here at home serving as a Director for Counterterrorism on the National Security Council and then protecting our nation’s critical infrastructure at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).

I’ve spent my career protecting what makes this country great.

That’s why I’m running for Congress, to continue the mission. Because I won’t tolerate what’s happening to our country – and the politicians who got us into this mess aren’t going to be the ones to fix it.

We need to lower costs for Americans, period, protect and foster American leadership in technology and innovation, and above all else, defend the integrity of American democracy and the US Constitution. All of this enables a safe and prosperous America, but we cannot do it alone.

NY-17 is one of the most closely divided battleground districts in the country. Republicans are going to spend millions of dollars to hold on to this seat. We already know the billionaires are lining up to protect their power at all costs. Last year, this district was Elon Musk’s top priority and he spent $1.7 million to keep Mike Lawler in his seat. If I’m going to have a chance at winning, I need your help.

I fought for our country and our democracy all my life, but I’ve never done it alone. In the Special Operations community your success or failure depends on the team you surround yourself with.
