As a lifelong Texan and representative of our great Gulf Coast, I’m proud to report a historic moment that recognizes the true heart and soul of our region. On January 20, 2025, President Donald J. Trump signed an executive order officially renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America—a long-overdue move that reflects the critical role our waters play in securing American energy, food, and economic strength.
The newly named Gulf of America has always been an engine of American prosperity. From powering our country through offshore oil and gas production to feeding millions through commercial fishing and maritime trade, this body of water is a treasure—and it belongs to America.
This week, House Republicans took action to make that name change permanent. We passed the Gulf of America Act of 2025, introduced by my colleague Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. This legislation codifies President Trump’s executive order and ensures that future administrations can’t undo this patriotic recognition with the stroke of a pen. It also directs federal agencies to update official maps and documents accordingly.
The Gulf has always been ours—and now the name finally reflects that truth. I’m proud to stand with President Trump and my Republican colleagues in celebrating our greatness, honoring our coastal communities, and boldly declaring that America is back.

As Mother’s Day draws near, I introduced a resolution in Congress to honor the God-given, irreplaceable role of mothers in our society. This resolution reaffirms our commitment to policies that recognize mothers as mothers—not as generic caregivers, not as interchangeable roles, but as women who courageously choose to bring life into the world and raise the next generation of Americans.
From stay-at-home moms and working mothers to adoptive moms and grandmothers stepping in to raise their grandchildren, this resolution acknowledges the profound value mothers bring to our families, communities, and this great nation. Mothers are the bedrock of the American family. They are selfless, steadfast, and full of wisdom—pouring out their hearts and lives to shape the future with love, grit, and grace. In today’s culture, where the distinctiveness of motherhood is too often downplayed or disregarded, this resolution stands as a bold declaration: Motherhood matters.
Here’s what the resolution does: Supports policies that recognize and affirm mothers as mothers; Honors Mother’s Day as a time set apart to celebrate motherhood; Acknowledges the tremendous sacrifices women make in raising a family; And encourages all Americans to celebrate and give thanks for the mothers who nurture and guide the next generation.
Let us never forget: strong families make a strong America—and strong mothers make strong families. This Mother’s Day, and every day, we thank God for the incredible women who anchor our homes, our values, and our future.

Once again, President Donald J. Trump has delivered a win for the American people. On the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, President Trump and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced a groundbreaking U.S.-UK trade deal that puts American workers, farmers, and manufacturers first. This is more than just a trade deal—it’s a reaffirmation of the special relationship between our two nations and a bold step toward economic security and reciprocity.
President Trump secured billions in new export opportunities for American farmers, ranchers, and manufacturers—including over $700 million in ethanol exports and $250 million in beef and agricultural goods. President Trump secured billions in new export opportunities for American farmers, ranchers, and manufacturers—including over $700 million in ethanol exports and $250 million in beef and agricultural goods. The reciprocal 10% tariff rate—established on Liberation Day—continues to promote fairness and protect American manufacturing. Section 232 tariffs on autos, steel, and aluminum will now be restructured to prioritize U.S. economic and national security.
This agreement deepens our partnership with a key ally and sets the tone for reciprocal trade agreements with others. As President Trump said from day one, America will no longer be taken advantage of at the negotiating table.
Since President Trump took office, he has led with strength, delivered results, and stood up to the broken global trade system that sold out the American worker. This deal is proof: America wins when you negotiate from a position of strength.
Let this remind every career bureaucrat and globalist: America is back to leading with principle, power, and purpose.

This week, I had the honor of joining First Baptist Church Groves virtually from Washington, D.C. for their Senior Adult Conference. Even from our nation's capital, it was a blessing to connect with folks back home, speak with you all, and answer your thoughtful questions. I’m always encouraged by the faith and fellowship of our Southeast Texas community.
Back in Texas today, I was proud to attend the Port of Port Arthur's Berth 6 Dedication Ceremony. This new addition is a major milestone for our region. Berth 6 will expand the port’s capacity, enhance operational efficiency, and bolster its ability to compete in the global marketplace. Most importantly, it strengthens two of our most vital assets: America’s supply chains and our Texas energy sector. That’s a win not just for Southeast Texas—but for the entire nation.
While in Washington throughout the week fighting for our district, Team Weber was on the ground at several important community events: The AMOCO Partnership Luncheon, where we celebrated local collaboration and economic development; The Tenaris Student of the Year Scholarship and Tenaris Merit Awards 2025 Presentation, recognizing outstanding young scholars with bright futures in STEM and industry; The Cinco de Mayo Luncheon at the Brazoria County Dream Center, honoring the spirit of service and community outreach; And finally, the Decade of Distinction Luncheon at Lamar State College Port Arthur, hosted by the Greater Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce—a celebration of ten years of academic excellence and regional impact.
These events are a powerful reminder that Southeast Texas is strong because our people are engaged, hardworking, and committed to shaping a better future. Whether I’m in D.C. casting votes or back home connecting with constituents, it’s always my honor to serve you in Congress.
