For the past few years, through our Protect Children Not Porn campaign, we’ve been advocating for laws that will require porn sites to legitimately verify its viewers are 18+ before they can see explicit content.
This is crucial because childhood exposure to porn is rampant, and it’s grooming children to become both sexual abusers and victims of abuse.
After Texas’ age verification law went into effect, Pornhub and the porn industry fought back, which elevated the case to the Supreme Court.
This created an incredible opportunity for child protection allies to mobilize and give the justices key information related to this case.
Exodus Cry’s Director of Public Policy wrote a 36-page amicus brief detailing what can be found in today’s porn: content that fetishizes rape, child abuse, and a laundry list of other criminal sex acts. (Read it here)
When the justices began hearing oral arguments for this case, they referenced specific points from our very own amicus brief, acknowledging the extreme, hardcore nature of modern porn.
These justices are getting the message: today’s porn is violent, predatory, and it’s indoctrinating children everywhere.
As the Court continues to weigh this case, we are optimistic that common sense will prevail, and they will rule in favor of protecting our children.
We’re only able to bring insight to the highest court in the nation because of the faithful generosity of people like you.
Together, we are shaping the future of the US, and many nations around the world.
