Dear Neighbor,

One of my favorite things to do when I was a kid was to read. Some of my favorite memories growing up were the trips I took to my local library to pick out books and then coming home to dive into different worlds and stories!

This summer, I’m inviting all K-5 students who live or attend school in the 14th District of Illinois to join my Congressional Readers program.

I’m challenging students to read at least 10 books by July 8th and log them on a book log. At the end of the summer, all participants will be invited to a special celebration and receive a small prize for accepting my challenge.

Una de mis cosas favoritas para hacer cuando era niño era leer. Algunos de mis recuerdos favoritos al crecer fueron los viajes que hice a mi biblioteca local para elegir libros y luego volver a casa para sumergirme en diferentes mundos e historias.

Este verano, estoy invitando a todos los estudiantes de K-5 que viven o asisten a la escuela en el Distrito 14 de Illinois a unirse a mi programa de Lectores del Congreso.

Estoy desafiando a los estudiantes a leer al menos 10 libros para el 8 de julio y registrarlos en un registro de libros. Al final del verano, todos los participantes serán invitados a una celebración especial y recibirán un pequeño premio por aceptar el reto.
