HELPING TO REOPEN THE CHARTER OAK POST OFFICE AFTER MORE THAN A YEAR OF CLOSURE Following repeated requests by our office, I’m glad that the Charter Oak Post Office has finally reopened after more than a year of closure. Iowans deserve to be able to visit the Post Office in person at their convenience. These delays are unacceptable, and it’s why I remained persistent in getting the Charter Oak Post Office reopened. In rural Iowa, we depend on the postal service to receive mail, get medications, and pay bills – and a prolonged closure like the one in Charter Oak denies Iowans of these critical services. Delivering for Iowans remains my top priority, and I will continue to advocate for our rural communities in Congress. Rep. I talked about how our work to extend and build upon the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act will supercharge our economy, support our businesses, and deliver tax relief for our families. MEETING WITH THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF RADIOLOGY I enjoyed meeting with Iowans from the American College of Radiology. We had a productive conversation about encouraging radiologists to practice in rural Iowa and delivering quality healthcare for our families and communities. I appreciate all that our healthcare professionals do! KEEPING THE CHINESE COMMUNIST PARTY OUT OF OUR COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES From buying up our farmland to surveilling our military bases, the Chinese Communist Party is leading an aggressive campaign to destabilize the United States and undermine our national security. The establishment of so-called Confucius Institutes is an alarming way that the CCP is infiltrating our universities, targeting our students, and spreading misinformation on college campuses. The CCP poses a serious threat to our country, which is why I voted to permanently end DHS funding for American universities that host Confucius Institutes or maintain questionable relationships with other Chinese entities of concern. We should not be encouraging – and taxpayers certainly should not be funding – CCP propaganda on our college campuses or anywhere in our country. This legislation puts taxpayers and our national security first while holding China accountable for its deceptive actions. Feenstra Votes to End DHS Funding for American Universities that Host Confucius Institutes WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) voted for, and the U.S. House of Representatives passed, the DHS Restrictions on Confucius Institutes and Chinese Entities of Concern Act. We need to maintain the 20% tax cut for small businesses so that entrepreneurs and job creators can hire new employees, expand their operations, and make investments up and down Main Street. We need to protect the doubled standard deduction and the increased child tax credit so that our families can keep more of their paycheck, put money away for a rainy day, save for college, or put a down payment on a new house. We need to keep in place provisions like immediate expensing and bonus deprecation to encourage our farmers and businesses to invest, grow, buy, and innovate right here in the United States. Exclusive | More than 8 in 10 voters support keeping Trump's 2017 tax cuts: poll Just 5% of likely voters said they would like a tax increase to close the nearly $2 trillion federal budget deficit. These incredible Americans work long hours caring for our neighbors and helping patients on the road to recovery. Thank you to these healthcare heroes! WE MUST DELIVER RELIEF FOR OUR FARMERS AND SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS The death tax unfairly targets our family farms and small businesses and punishes generations of hard work and resilience. Read my op-ed with my Ways and Means colleague, Rep. Greg Murphy of North Carolina, and Jay Timmons, the President and CEO of the National Association of Manufacturers, on why we must deliver death tax relief for our farmers and family businesses. Congress must take a stand on the death tax Congress should ensure the death tax isn't resuscitated.
