Spring is in full bloom as we continue to make progress on crafting a balanced state budget.

*MINI SURVEY:*

With looming threats of cuts from D.C. to federal initiatives like Medicaid and Social Security, I’m sharply focused on what these fiscal reductions will mean for how well we serve not only our Plymouth and Medicine Lake communities, but our entire state. We’ve invested in Americans with these programs as a part of our commitment to helping our most vulnerable populations live with dignity. Everything from childcare, to education funding, and ensuring our cherished elders can age in place; it’s all on the line, and the decisions we make at the state level can make a local impact. 

To that end, I’d appreciate your feedback on the following mini survey:

*State Budget Progress*

Our budget work is moving through the process. The House and Senate are passing their respective budget bills and now conference committee work is underway to reconcile differences within each bill for a final version to send to the governor. The split legislative makeup has its challenges, but with thorough vetting, and strong bipartisan collaboration, I’m confident we can find compromise and build a state budget that works for everyone.

*Cracking down on repeat DWI offenders*

As we continue to face challenges with roadway safety and traffic fatalities, I'm glad to report we're taking action to keep Minnesotans safer behind the wheel. The legislation, which passed with overwhelming bipartisan support, increases the use of interlock ignition systems - a measure that builds on legislation I've championed through previous reform efforts - and requires mandated substance abuse treatment for repeat DWI offenders. I'm pleased to see this bill move forward as it will help keep everyone safer on our roads. *Bark in the Park ??*

It’s one of my favorite times of the year! Plymouth’s Bark in the Park [ [link removed] ] is happening next Saturday, May 17 from 9:00 a.m.-noon. Enjoy free local pet supply and dog product vendors, adoption opportunities from rescue organizations, photo booths, balloon artistry and face painting for the kids, cooling stations with pools for canine companions, and various fun activities throughout the day.

Admission is free, but it’s recommended to bring cash for food vendors and purchases. All dogs must remain on leash during the event.
