Dear Neighbors,
Our budget work continues in the Minnesota House as we start measuring our remaining time at the State Capitol in days instead of weeks. We’ve passed 13 of our House budget proposals so far, which you can read nonpartisan summaries of here:

We just passed our Workforce, Labor, and Economic Development Budget today - in which the DFL successfully protects paid family & medical leave, earned sick & safe time, and workplace safety protections. Even as we continue to pass the House’s budget proposals, conference committees made up of House and Senate members are already meeting to reconcile the differences between each chambers’ proposals and craft our final budget bills.
That process can only go so far, however, because Republican leaders have yet to agree on funding amounts for specific budget areas - instead they’d rather spend our few remaining days trying to strip benefits from school workers, or deny health care to our neighbors. We’ll do as much of our budget work as we can, but eventually Republicans are going to have to get serious - and I refuse to support a budget that sacrifices the well-being of our community for the sake of the wealthy and well-connected.
We’ve got a little over a week left to pass our budget, and I’ll be spending it advocating one that strengthens North Minneapolis and our entire state.

Historic Graduation Rates*
As we work to pass a new state budget, the investments we made under the DFL trifecta these last few years are bearing fruit. Graduation rates have reached a historic high [ [link removed] ]! Proving that when we invest in our students and schools, we see results.
GraduationRates
Our Asian, Black, Latino, and Native American students saw the largest growth, helping to close the achievement gap we see in our state. When we see meaningful progress like this, we can’t back down when it comes to supporting our schools. Now is the time to double down for our students and build on this progress, and I’ll be fighting for a state budget that does just that.
