Dear Friend,

Small businesses are the engine of our economy, accounting for 99% of all businesses in our country.

Watch: Video highlighting Congressman Emmer’s Small Business Roundtable

Earlier this week, we hosted a roundtable discussion with key small business leaders from across the country to discuss our commitment to supporting the small business. We were lucky to be joined by House Small Business Committee Chairman Roger Williams, Representative Pete Stauber, along with many other Members of Congress.

The roundtable took place during National Small Business Week, an opportunity to recognize the investment, hard work, and determination of American small business owners and celebrate the role they play in supporting our communities. We were very grateful that the CEO of Blaine-based Lorenz Bus Service, Mike Canine, was able to join us for this discussion to share his unique perspective.

Watch: Brian Ingram discusses the impact of crime on small businesses in the Twin Cities

While National Small Business Week is a great opportunity to discuss the success of our small business community, it is also an important chance to examine the policies that are holding them back. Following repeated break-ins and robberies at his restaurants, Brian Ingram, Executive Chef and CEO of Purpose Restaurants has decided to close his St. Paul Apostle Supper Club.

Small business owners in the Twin Cities have been abandoned by Tim Walz, Keith Ellison, and Mary Moriarty. While we are sad to see the Apostle Supper Club go, I am grateful to my friend, Brian Ingram, for standing up for common sense and public safety.
