Team, I’m proud of the budget agreement we reached in New York this week.

This budget will deliver on putting money back in people’s pockets and keeping New Yorkers safe.

As my administration works on improving safety and security for New Yorkers, the Trump administration is slashing funding for vital gun safety and opioid addiction programs.

This is not the right move.

We should be working to improve public safety. That’s why my administration is investing in subway safety, gun violence prevention programs, mental health treatment, and protections for places of worship and other vulnerable locations.

Public safety has always been my number one priority. We’ve made record investments to attack gun crime head-on, and it’s paying off — last year, shootings in New York reached their lowest point in more than a decade.

While Trump and Washington Republicans claim the mantle of “law and order” and public safety, we're actually making a difference.

And when New Yorkers head to the polls, I’m going to make sure they know who is responsible for safer streets, schools, and subways.

Together, we’re going to keep delivering to make New York even safer.
