The Real Impact of Republican Medicaid Cuts
Republicans in Congress have made it abundantly clear that they are willing to cut Medicaid and kick people off their health care so that they can give tax cuts to billionaires.
They claim that their policies will reduce so-called waste, fraud, and abuse or that people will not lose their benefits, but that could not be further from the truth. A new report from the non-partisan, independent Congressional Budget Office (CBO) details how the bill Republicans plan to advance through my Energy and Commerce Committee next week will reduce Americans’ health benefits, kick them off of their health insurance, and slash payments to providers that are already struggling to keep their doors open.
That means benefit cuts and terminated health insurance for millions of Americans who count on Medicaid. It’s time for Republicans to stop lying to the American people about what they’re plotting behind closed doors so that they can give giant tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations. If they don’t abandon their plans, we will fight back!
