Here’s what moms actually want…
As a mother, I’m pissed off, and you should be, too.
The costs and dangers of having a child in today’s America are growing: Reproductive healthcare is inaccessible, housing costs are at an all-time high, grocery prices are rising, savings are cratering, the Department of Education is being dismantled, and child care has become an expensive privilege out of reach for those who need it most.These are real issues with real solutions — they demand investment and attention from Congress and this administration. Not a paltry one-time payment that wouldn’t even cover a new mom’s hospital stay!
My Dem colleagues and I get it, and we’re doing everything we can to provide more resources for new parents and fight back against Trump’s efforts to undermine the social safety net that makes becoming a parent just a bit less intimidating. But without a majority, we can’t do much.
