On January 31, 2018, Ethan was shot in the head at his best friend's house.

His friend’s father owned three handguns that were stored in a shoebox with ammunition.

Ethan’s friend had been accessing the unsafely stored guns for over six months.

Months after losing Ethan, the prosecutor told me she would not charge the negligent gun owner, and if I wanted them to be held accountable, I would have to change the law.

So I began my fight to pass Ethan’s Law in states across the nation – to make sure that no other family would know the pain of losing a child to an unsecured firearm.

We’ve already passed Ethan’s Law in my home state of Connecticut and others.

And in February, bold gun safety Democrats reintroduced legislation in Congress to pass Ethan’s Law NATIONWIDE.

But just days ago, Trump’s agency in charge of regulating firearms DISMANTLED a memorial to Ethan and 120+ other innocent lives lost to gun violence and mass shootings.

Ethan’s face – and every face on the wall – served as a call to action to end gun violence.

But I also know that the memorial became a mirror that Trump and his administration couldn’t bear to face, because of all the children like Ethan they’ve failed – and all the ways they continue to fail our families and communities.

So now, I’m personally calling on every grassroots gun safety champion to join me to make Trump regret his cruel erasure of those taken from us by defeating EVERY last Republican lawmaker that refuses to act to protect our families from gun violence. That’s why I’m asking 575 supporters to join me before Mother’s Day in 48 hours to fully fund BAWN’s work to elect more gun safety Democrats with the guts to protect our families from Trump’s extreme anti-gun-safety agenda. Trump and his Republicans will stop at NOTHING to deny the damage guns do to our communities, erase every single innocent person impacted by gun violence, and sweep mass shootings under the rug.
