Give the Gift of Peace This Mother’s Day
Did you know Mother’s Day was born from a movement for peace?
In 1870, poet and activist Julia Ward Howe called on women across the world to unite against violence and care for one another. Her Mother’s Day Proclamation wasn’t about cards or brunch, it was a plea for a world without violence.
This message lives on in our mission at Peace Over Violence. Every day, we stand with mothers and caregivers who are surviving and healing from sexual and domestic violence. Just last week, our team came together to help two courageous moms and their children find safety and a fresh start. Thanks to the quick response of our case managers and housing staff, these families are now in new homes where they can feel safe, secure, and surrounded by care.
This kind of healing doesn’t happen by chance. It happens because people like you choose to show up with generosity, with love, and with a belief that everyone deserves to live free from fear.
This Mother’s Day, honor all those who nurture and protect us - our mothers, mamas, grandmothers, abuelitas, nanas, nonnas, godmothers, aunties, and fathers doing double duty – by making a gift in their names to Peace Over Violence. Your donation will help another family find safety and support on their healing journey.
Peace begins at home and together, we can carry it into every community in honor of the person you’ll be celebrating this Sunday, May 11. Your gift is more than a tribute, it is an act of peace.
