Attorneys General Nessel and Mayes Discuss Importance of Antitrust Enforcement with former FTC Chair Lina Khan

*LANSING* – In the latest episode of their recently launched podcast [ [link removed] ], "Pantsuits and Lawsuits", Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes pull back the curtain on antitrust enforcement with Lina Khan, former Chair of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

The episode breaks down how vigilant state-federal partnerships are essential to restoring fairness in the marketplace and standing firm against powerful interests. The conversation also dives into the threats posed by weakened consumer protections, corporate mergers, and AI-driven “surveillance pricing,” practices that are putting everyday Americans at risk.

“The FTC plays a vital role in enforcing federal consumer protection laws,” Nessel said. “Its partnership with states is essential in fighting fraud, deception, and so many other unlawful business practices, but there's growing concern about what happens if federal involvement continues to weaken. Unlike some states, Michigan lacks robust consumer protection laws and relies heavily on antitrust laws and federal support to protect our consumers. That's why we were thrilled to welcome Lina Khan to discuss the importance of state attorneys general working in concert with the federal government to protect our economy against the threat of monopolies.”

New episodes of "Pantsuits and Lawsuits" are released biweekly to break down complex legal topics in a way that is engaging, informative, and accessible to listeners. With their blend of expertise, humor, and straight talk, the attorneys general explore major legal cases, analyze state and national policy debates and discuss how attorneys general help shape justice. Through these discussions, listeners will gain a behind-the-scenes look at the work attorneys general do to serve and protect their communities.
