This spring our hatchery team is stocking more than 430,000 fish in over 500 waters across the state!

MDIFW fish culturists raise the trout and landlocked salmon at the state's eight fish hatcheries and rearing stations [ [link removed] ] then stock the fish across the state for you to catch!

The team rears and stocks brook trout, brown trout, lake trout (togue), splake (a brook trout/lake trout hybrid), rainbow trout, and landlocked salmon.

Wondering why we stock? 

* Stocking helps maintain healthy trout and landlocked salmon populations
* Provides fishing opportunities to anglers of all abilities across our large state
