Hello Friends,

It's been a busy few weeks fighting for New Jerseyans. Here’s an update on what I’ve been doing in D.C. and New Jersey.

I co-led legislation that would end Trump’s tariffs and his abuse of the “emergency” trade authorities. Trump’s trade war is costing New Jersey families nearly $4000 and driving our economy towards a recession. We need to reign in a president who is raising the cost of everything from a cup of coffee to the price of housing, while giving handouts to his billionaire friends.

I’m taking on Elon Musk and his 18-to-24-year-old DOGE staffers who have unchecked access to our personal data. Last month, I introduced a bill that would require Elon Musk and DOGE staffers to pass a drug test in order to access highly sensitive materials. If Elon wants to parade around as a government employee, he should be treated like one.

Pete Hegseth was always the wrong choice for Secretary of Defense. Last week, during our House Armed Services Committee hearing, I demanded that my Republican colleagues hold Secretary Hegseth accountable for recklessly disclosing classified information on Signal. Something he did at least twice. His leaks could have gotten American service members killed. I fought against his nomination, warning the Trump administration of the repercussions when you hire someone with no experience for a cabinet role. I am continuing to call for his immediate resignation.

I reintroduced a bill to end judge shopping, a tactic utilized by conservative activists to cherry-pick a judge and predetermine the outcome of their case. Meanwhile, Trump and Washington Republicans continue their  attacks on our system of checks and balances. I won’t sit back and watch House Republicans rig our courts so that Trump can run rampant in the White House without facing repercussions for his actions.

I also want to give a big thank you to everyone who joined me at our April town hall. Democracy is about showing up, and when we work together, we can push back against what is going on in Washington while working to make New Jersey more affordable, and the best place to live and raise a family.
