With Mother’s Day this weekend, we’re sharing a story that reminds us just how far a mother’s love can reach.

When baby Salahuddin was only 18 months old, his father passed away. The family lost their source of income, their home, and their sense of security. Salahuddin’s mother, Sakera, could no longer afford the treatment her beautiful baby boy needed.

But Sakera refused to give up. After years of searching for answers, she came across the Balukhali Vision Center, funded by Orbis supporters like you! With your help, Salahuddin was referred for cataract surgery — free of charge.

"After visiting here, I was so hopeful and happy. I was also so grateful after getting services and a good environment," Sakera shared.

Thanks to your support, Salahuddin had successful surgery on both eyes. He now wears glasses to support his healing, and for the first time in his life, he can see the world around him clearly.

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate mothers like Sakera who never give up. And we celebrate people like you, for making this transformation possible.
