** How SiX Works Differently with State Legislators
------------------------------------------------------------
SiX organizes with nearly 2,000 state legislators in all 50 states to make sure that progressive policies don’t just get passed, but that they actually make a difference in people’s lives.
“SiX is an invaluable resource to policymakers in helping us create real legislation that will have a lasting impact on people’s lives, and that we can also get passed in tough legislative environments.” -Arizona Senator Analise Ortiz

** State Legislators Lead Bold Response to Trump Administration’s First 100 Days
------------------------------------------------------------
From rural towns to major cities, lawmakers in statehouses nationwide are resisting harmful federal policies and leading the charge to build a government that serves all people, not just the wealthy and well-connected.
As the nation reflected on the first 100 days of the Trump administration, SiX organized a press call ([link removed]) with state legislators to showcase their bold, community-rooted solutions and show what real leadership looks like. Click below to learn more.

** Building Power for Rural Policy
------------------------------------------------------------
[link removed]
Last month, SiX joined Rural Democracy Initiative ([link removed]) , rural leaders, organizers, and partners at the 2025 Rural Policy Action Summit. As part of the host team, SiX facilitated the opening session, grounding in shared values and rural organizing strategy to craft a "pro-rural" policy agenda that can defend against the mounting threats to our communities and environment. Each summit further contributes to the development of SiX's Blueprint for Rural Policy Action in the States ([link removed]) , a comprehensive resource for state legislators working on a rural policy agenda and based on the Rural Democracy Initiative's Federal Rural Policy Action Report. Eskamani, kicked off SiX’s Economic Power Project’s education series with a conversation with Ron Knox, senior researcher and writer for the Institute for Local Self-Reliance (ILSR) Independent Business Initiative to discuss their Strengthening State Antimonopoly Laws resource hub for legislators, legislative staff, state agencies and advocates.

Black Maternal Health Week (April 11-17) is more than a week on the calendar. It’s a reminder of the structural inequities we must dismantle and the collective action we must sustain. At SiX, we are committed to advancing policy, centering community, and transforming power so that Black mothers, families, and communities not only survive, but thrive.
We’re proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with movement leaders, legislators, and advocates in this fight. Click below for a recap of how SiX met this Black Maternal Health Week ([link removed]) moment with action, including coordinated resolutions and proclamations in nearly 20 states, research ([link removed]) , and a historical overview ([link removed]) of how Black birthing people have been surveilled and criminalized in the U.S.
