RODRIGUEZ REPORT

Catch up on Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez’s latest work across Wisconsin — from supporting farmers and small businesses, to protecting our natural treasures and naming a calf at Bouressa Family Farm in New London. It’s all here in this edition of the Rodriguez Report!

STANDING UP FOR WISCONSIN FARMERS

Sara’s been traveling across Wisconsin to hear directly from the farmers and small business owners hit hardest by Trump-era tariffs, recently stopping by Bouressa Family Farm in New London to talk about the importance of supporting Wisconsin’s family farms during these uncertain times. She highlighted that the governor’s administration is investing more than $80 million to support our farmers in the 2025-27 biennial budget — and even got to name a newborn calf after her grandmother, Marveline, who owned a dairy farm herself!

New calf alert! Welcome to the world, Marveline.

This support comes as President Trump’s 25% tariff tax threatens our state’s $116 billion agricultural industry. Sara met with farmers who talked about how the price of equipment, feed, and fertilizer has skyrocketed — and how foreign market uncertainty is making it harder to keep operations running. Some manufacturing  businesses that had been budgeting for growth are now planning for hiring freezes and even potential work stoppages.

Thankfully, Sara and Governor Evers aren’t just listening to our farmers and business owners — they’re acting. The Governor’s biennial budget also includes millions in targeted relief for small farms and agricultural co-ops, plus historic investments in rural broadband, clean energy incentives for family farms, and the expansion of farm-to-school programs to boost local demand. Together, Sara and Gov. Evers are fighting for policies that keep Wisconsin’s farming communities strong, sustainable, and growing.
