Email from Rep. Palmer Dear Friend, Last week marked 100 days of President Trump’s administration. Since day one, President Trump, his administration, and House Republicans have been tirelessly working on behalf of the American people. In just a short amount of time, our borders have been secured, American energy has been unleashed, trillions of dollars in investments into our nation have been acquired, and common sense has been brought back to the White House. The best days are ahead of us, and I look forward to seeing what else we can accomplish during this administration! I invite you to read below to learn more about the work my staff and I are doing on your behalf. If you ever want to express your thoughts or comments regarding legislative issues, please call our D.C. office at (202) 225-4921 or email me through my website. If you need help with a federal agency, please call our district office at (205) 968-1290 or fill out this form on my website. Sincerely, Gary Palmer The Retirement Freedom Act Under current law, seniors are unable to make healthcare decisions for themselves. To correct this I reintroduced the Retirement Freedom Act. People should not be forced to give up their private insurance because their Social Security is being held hostage. This bill would decouple Social Security from Medicare and allow senior citizens to choose what is best for them regarding their health insurance. Read my press release here Read the bill here. Protecting Natural-Gas Home Appliances In the final days of the Biden-Harris Administration, a rule was implemented that would ban natural gas fired tankless water heaters. The House and the Senate both passed my Congressional Review Act (CRA) that will repeal the Biden-Harris administration’s overreaching rule. I look forward to President Trump signing this legislation soon. Watch my floor speech here President Trump sides with Rep. Palmer on natural gas water heaters 11 House Dems vote with Republicans to overturn Biden's gas water heater ban Read my press release here Putting Students First with NIL I enjoyed recently participating in a roundtable with some of my congressional colleagues and The University of Alabama President Bell, Coach Kalen DeBoer, Athletic Director Byrne, and several student athletes to discuss how we should approach Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) in college sports. Lulu's Law Last year, Lulu Gribbin from Mountain Brook, Alabama, suffered a violent shark attack. The attack could have been prevented if beachgoers had been alerted that another attack had happened only 90 minutes prior. Senator Katie Britt and I reintroduced Lulu’s Law in both the House and Senate. If enacted, this bill would enable the transmission of Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) which is used to issue severe weather or missing children alerts to also warn beachgoers about shark attack risks. By passing Lulu’s Law, we would be creating a practical solution to prevent future attacks from occurring and keep beachgoers safe.
