State Senate Advances TX SB 1798 to End Texas Dream Act Against Advice of Businesses, Educators, Economists, and Faith Leaders - Texas Senate Bill 1798, which would repeal the Texas Dream Act and strip in-state tuition from undocumented students who meet standard qualifications, has advanced in the State Senate. The move has drawn strong opposition from business leaders, educators, economists, and faith groups who argue it harms the state’s economy and future workforce. This is not a political issue — it’s an economic one. Texas is a national leader because we’ve invested in talent, no matter where someone was born. Rolling back this policy would send the opposite message.
