LEGISLATIVE UPDATE:
We are officially in extended session until June 6. They will use this time to address the budget. Any bills, outside of that scope, that were not agreed upon are dead. Some will be brought back next session. The Governor has started signing bills that went through the process. These two have been talked about a lot locally and will take effect on July 1…
State Constitution Amendments: This will strengthen the integrity of Florida’s constitutional amendment process. The law includes ID requirements, shortens petition deadlines, and ensures petition gatherers are registered and trained. This law will help to prevent fraud and increase transparency.
Fluoride in water: The bill does not explicitly mention "fluoride" but restricts any additive that doesn't meet the state's definition of a "water quality additive.” The conversations during the process has been surrounding Fluoride but this will protect us in the future if people want to add anything to our water. DeSantis and the legislators have called it “forced medication” emphasizing the importance of individual choice in health-related matters.
RPOF UPDATE:
