Hi John,
Joe Courtney has been hard at work fighting for the people of Connecticut. Whether it’s protecting kids' health care, pushing back against tariffs that are driving up grocery bills, or delivering big wins for our shipbuilding industry, he’s making sure working families don’t get left behind. Every step of the way, Joe is listening to you — and taking the fight straight to Washington.
Check out the articles linked below to see how our Congressman is fighting for us!

Joe Courtney criticized President Trump, emphasizing that 100 days into his term, Trump has raised prices for families, proposed deep cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, and has made corruption central to his administration. Prices for gas, groceries, and homes have risen — contributing to Trump’s historic unpopularity.
In his floor speech, Joe said, “President Trump has signed over 100 executive orders — not one has lowered costs. Inflation is up. Consumer confidence has tanked.”

The funding covers the completion cost of two Virginia-class submarines, shipyard improvements, and most importantly - workforce wage increases for shipyard workers. His language in December authorized wage boosts for non-executive workers, including welders, electricians, and designers in the FY25 National Defense Authorization Act to strengthen the workforce and our local submarine industrial base.

Store managers reported rising costs on imported goods like avocados and bananas, adding uncertainty and pressure on their ability to keep prices low for customers. Tariffs are making groceries more expensive — contradicting Trump’s promise to reduce food costs.
Joe is using these conversations to highlight the real-world impact of the tariffs and bringing his constituents’ concerns back to Congress as part of his efforts to push for policies that lower costs and support consumers.
[link removed] [[link removed]] Congressmen Joe Courtney and John Larson warned that proposed Republican Medicaid cuts could put children's health care in Connecticut at serious risk. The $880 billion in cuts, intended to fund tax breaks for the wealthy, would slash Connecticut’s federal Medicaid funding by about $1 billion a year, jeopardizing coverage for over 400,000 children.
Joe Courtney is using these projections to raise alarms in Congress and advocate against the cuts, emphasizing the devastating impact they would have on families across the state.
[link removed] [[link removed]] Joe has received more than 20,000 calls and emails from constituents during the first month of Trump’s second term, reflecting the serious impact of new initiatives from the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) on Eastern Connecticut. He highlighted that the region — home to many civilian federal employees and veterans around the Naval Submarine Base in New London — has been especially affected. Joe continues to speak out against proposed Medicaid cuts that would threaten a major portion of Connecticut’s state funding: he's the fighter we need in DC!
Joe Joins Rally Against Social Security Cuts [[link removed]] Joe Courtney was joined by dozens in New London to rally against Social Security cuts as they protested in the rain. District 2 has the most Social Security recipients in Connecticut, and it will feel the devastating impacts of Social Security cuts the hardest.
Joe emphasized, “The system is understaffed as it is right now, and really if you listen to Elon Musk and see what he’s doing, it clearly is an effort to damage the operations of the system.”
We’ll keep sharing news stories as Joe continues to fight for Eastern Connecticut families - we're lucky to have him representing us in DC!
Thank you,
Team Courtney
