Not even halfway into the year and Iowa Democrats are already pulling off major victories in a round of special elections.

In January: Democrats Mike Zimmer and Ritchie Kurtenbach flipped two seats, winning in an upset. This proved that as long as Democrats run candidates who understand and fight for their communities, and volunteers roll up their sleeves and get to work, we can win elections across the state.

In March: Democrat Nannette Griffin exceeded expectations by making a district Trump won by 27 points competitive.

In April: Democrat Angel Ramirez overperformed by 26 points and won HD 78.

While we don’t know what’s next for May, one thing is clear: Democrats are making a comeback in Iowa.

And it’s thanks to grassroots supporters like you! These special election victories are proof that our Forward: Victory 2026 plan is working, and with many races on the ballot for next year, we need to keep up our momentum by boosting Democrats across the state.
