Earlier this week, I signed a petition that would force a vote in the U.S. House to protect Medicaid and food assistance programs from Republicans’ devastating $1 trillion budget cuts.

Michiganders will be directly affected by the GOP’s current proposed budget, which will drive up costs, strip people of health care, and leave children across the state hungry.

In my district alone, more than 104,000 people — including 35,000 children and 11,000 seniors — would be at risk of losing Medicaid coverage and 58,000 people risk losing the food assistance programs they rely on to make ends meet.
