Speaker Mike Johnson wants the House to vote on a full budget package by the end of this month.
That means we’re about to face another all-out fight to protect critical programs.
In their budget proposal, House Republicans floated trillions in tax cuts for the wealthy without saying where they’d find the money. Now the rubber meets the road — and we know where they’ll look: Medicaid .
Cutting Medicaid at all is outrageous. Even Donald Trump promised not to touch it during his campaign.
But slashing it by billions just to hand more tax breaks to billionaires? That’s not just outrageous — it’s immoral.
Millions of Americans of all political persuasions all across the country rely on Medicaid to get the health care they need without going broke (including 1 in 6 people in San Diego County). So cutting it would be catastrophic, and we need to approach this fight with a unified front.
