In the Trump Administration’s latest attacks on public service, they’re trying to dismantle AmeriCorps, one of the most effective service organizations in the country, which provides direct support to vulnerable communities right here in Maryland.
Attorney General Anthony Brown is co-leading a coalition of 25 states to stop this brazen abuse of power and ensure our communities have the support they need.

With no warning, the Trump Administration announced massive cuts that would reduce the agency’s workforce by nearly 90%, cancel contracts, and shut down $400 million worth of critical service programs. In Maryland alone, these cuts would:
❌ Eliminate programs that educate children, care for our seniors, and rebuild homes after disasters.
❌ End support for public school teachers, veteran services, and conservation efforts.
❌ Strip essential aid from rural, low-income, homeless, and elderly communities.
Congress created AmeriCorps, and the President does not have the power or authority to unilaterally halt the agency’s ability to administer already appropriated grants and carry out its duties.
