We did it.

Trump has announced his intent to withdraw Ed Martin’s nomination to be
U.S. Attorney for Washington, DC. Facing mounting public pressure and
defections from Republican senators, the nomination collapsed. ^[1]

This is a win for the American people – and proof that patriotic activism
works.

Even without Senate confirmation, Martin left a trail of destruction and
intimidation in his wake. During his time serving as the interim U.S.
Attorney, he declared that his office served Trump’s interests, not the
public’s. He abused his power to target Justice Department employees
involved in January 6 prosecutions, intimidate Democratic elected
officials, and retaliate against institutions that refused to comply with
MAGA demands.

He threatened Georgetown Law School for including diversity and inclusion
in its curriculum. He even went after Wikipedia for publishing facts that
contradicted MAGA lies.

In other words, he showed the country exactly how dangerous a
Trump-appointed federal prosecutor can be.

Americans saw that Ed Martin did not represent the public interest. He did
not meet the standards we expect from anyone entrusted with federal
prosecutorial power and we made sure our senators knew it.

More than 11,000 of you signed our petition demanding the Senate reject
his nomination and that wave of grassroots pressure helped force his
defeat – thank you!

This is what democracy in action looks like.

But the fight is not over. Trump is still trying to install loyalists who
will put his political agenda above the rule of law. Ed Martin will not be
the last dangerous nominee we must fight to oppose.

That’s why ongoing vigilance is essential. We must stay organized, alert,
and ready to expose the next wave of extremist nominees and stop them in
the Senate.

This work – researching Trump’s nominees, organizing rapid grassroots
campaigns, and applying pressure in the Senate – is only possible with
