Webinar introduces improved Beachguard tool for monitoring beach advisories

Just in time for beach season, the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) [ [link removed] ] has launched a new and improved Beachguard tool [ [link removed] ] within EGLE’s MiEnviro Portal. This user-friendly online tool makes it easier than ever to monitor beach closures, advisories, and water quality alerts statewide. New features include: 


* A clean, modern interface with options to organize data by county, ownership or closures. 

* New layer tools to view the map from street or satellite views. 

* The ability for users to sign up and manage custom alerts. 

Join EGLE for a media-focused webinar to see what’s new and how you or your newsroom can use Beachguard to keep your audience informed. Registration is open online. [ [link removed] ] 

*WHAT: *Webinar to help members of the media navigate new Beachguard features. 

*WHEN:* 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2025. 

*WHERE:* A webinar link will be sent to you upon registration. The webinar also will be recorded and a link sent to registrants afterward. 

Local health departments make decisions to close beaches and issue advisories. Learn more about E. coli monitoring and impaired waters on Michigan’s E. coli Pollution and Solution Mapper [ [link removed] ].
