No, Joe Biden hasn’t somehow returned to office. This time, the ill-advised idea — tariffs on imported medicines — comes from Donald Trump himself. Tariffs betray Republicans’ longstanding affinity for free markets and low taxes. And they’d put American patients and businesses in harm’s way.

Insurers, Bureaucrats Shouldn't Deprive Patients Of Lifesaving Treatments

Imagine being told there’s a drug that might save your life — but your insurance won’t cover it for 18 months.
That’s the reality for patients under a new policy from Independence Blue Cross, a Philadelphia-based insurer. The insurer announced earlier this year that it will delay coverage of therapies that have received “accelerated approval” from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Such delays can be fatal for people fighting for their lives. The Trump administration must beat back attacks on accelerated approval — and indeed, expand its use.

Medicaid Isn't A Federal Entitlement

Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) recently ripped into progressives for opposing Medicaid reform.
“Medicaid is meant to be a state-federal partnership,” Cassidy, who has an M.D., wrote on X. “States are supposed to pay for 40% of the cost. Most states are paying for less than 15%. … People should not be asking what is the federal government doing? They should be asking why aren’t the states doing more.”
Cassidy is right. Congress originally designed Medicaid in 1965 under President Lyndon B. Johnson’s “Great Society” program as a joint federal-state entitlement, with states and the federal government roughly splitting costs. But states have found ways to shift an ever-growing amount of the cost to federal taxpayers. It’s high time Congress restored balance to the program.
