If you’ve missed our Major Threat emails, let me tell you about the Wolf Depredation Compensation Program Bill (SB 777 A). This bill would allow for up to 5x the fair market value paid for livestock confirmed killed or injured by wolves, draining the program's funds and jeopardizing wolf recovery. For those who are already familiar with this bad Wolf Depredation Compensation Program Bill (SB 777 A), you know that this bad bill endangers the recovery of Oregon’s wolves, and we must stop it. Will you take a moment to send a message to your representatives asking them to stop this bill?
As of now, Oregon farmers and ranchers are already paid the fair market value for livestock losses due to wolf predation. Installing an unnecessary 5x multiplier would put Oregon on the list of highest multipliers in the nation. We can’t afford to set back the recovery of our wolves anymore.
We’ve been fighting this Major Threat the majority of the session, and we need your help to stop it. This bill did pass the Senate earlier this session, but now we have the chance to stop it in the House, as we are coming up on some important legislative deadlines.
