   John,
Officer Daniel Pantaleo was just fired for applying a prohibited, banned
chokehold and maintaining it until Eric Garner died.
It took the NYPD more than five years after Eric Garner was murdered. The
chokehold has been banned by the NYPD for 15 years. Pantaleo should've
been fired the next day. Now, five years too late, they finally did their
   job.
But we’re already seeing huge pushback from police against the decision to
fire Pantaleo. We need to set a precedent that police are not above the
law – that violating their own policies and lying about it to cover up the
   truth will not be tolerated.
[ [link removed] ]Now we are calling on the NYPD and Mayor de Blasio to immediately
terminate every officer who repeatedly lied under oath on their reports
about the actions of Daniel Pantaleo – add your name now.

Pantaleo still hasn’t even been charged with a crime for the murder of
Eric Garner. While it is not completely impossible, the former Staten
Island District Attorney, the State Attorney General, the Governor, the
Obama Administration, and the Trump administration all passed. It's highly
   unlikely.
Now, the New York City police union made a horrible statement about the
decision to fire Pantaleo – even though he violated the NYPD policy, every
politician refused to do anything about it, and an internal NYPD review
board and NYPD judge decided to fire him. Here’s what they said:
“Police Commissioner O’Neill has made his choice: he has chosen politics
and his own self-interest over the police officers he claims to lead. He
has chosen to cringe in fear of the anti-police extremists, rather than
standing up for New Yorkers who want a functioning police department.”
I am also told that Daniel Pantaleo and his union, the Sergeants
Benevolent Association, are going to file an immediate grievance demanding
that he get his job back and that he may actually sue for his pain and
   suffering.
It’s clear that these police groups think police should have a right to
violate their own NYPD policy, murder innocent people, and lie about it –
with no accountability and while getting to keep their jobs.
[ [link removed] ]Help us send a message that police are not above the law. It’s time to
terminate every officer who repeatedly lied under oath about the actions
of Daniel Pantaleo – add your name now.
   Thank you,
   Shaun King
