FDA Begins Food Dye
Ban |
|
One of the most urgent reforms we mentioned above is already
underway—and it’s a game-changer. |
|
These dyes—including Red 40, Yellow
5, and Blue 1—are linked to inflammation,
hyperactivity, and behavioral challenges in children. They’ve been
banned in Europe for years, but until now, remained in American
cereals, snacks, and drinks.
|
|
Here's what's happening: |
|
- Citrus Red No. 2 and Orange B will be
revoked first
- Six remaining dyes must be out of the
food supply by the end of 2025
- Four natural alternatives are being
fast-tracked
- NIH is launching new research into how these additives impact
child development
|
|
It’s proof that real reform is possible—and that MAHA is driving
it forward. |

Legislation You Need to
Know About |
|
This week, North Carolina lawmakers held a hearing on one of the
most dangerous bills we’ve seen yet. |
|
Tucked into the state’s massive Farm Bill (SB639) is Section 19—a
quiet but sweeping provision that would grant pesticide
companies legal immunity if their products cause cancer,
infertility, brain damage, or harm to children. |
|
It applies to more than 16,000 chemicals regulated under federal
law, many of which have never been independently safety tested. |
|
The EPA relies heavily on industry-submitted data—and this bill
would protect foreign corporations like Bayer and ChemChina from
lawsuits, even if they knowingly caused harm. |
|
This is part of a coordinated push across the country to block
accountability and silence victims. Thanks to your voices, similar
bills have already been stopped in nine other states. Now we must do
it again. |
|
MAHA-related bills to watch: |
|
North Carolina SB639: MAHA strongly opposes this bill
because it shields chemical giants from legal accountability—even when
their products harm the public. No industry should be above the
law. |
|
Alabama HB491: MAHA supports this bill to ban
synthetic food dyes in public K–12 schools. The legislation targets
harmful additives like Red 40, Yellow 5, and Blue 1—protecting
children from chemicals linked to behavioral and developmental
concerns. |
|
Missouri HB544: MAHA opposes this bill, which would
allow EPA-approved labels to override stronger state cancer warnings.
It reduces local oversight and gives pesticide companies more room to
operate without accountability. |
