[1]Eugene Vindman for Congress

Friend,

When I ran for Congress, I promised to fight for a better, stronger education system — and now I’m keeping that promise. That’s why I introduced legislation to create phone-free classrooms across America.

Over the past few years, we've seen how the pandemic and constant digital distractions have disrupted learning and development for our kids. Academic performance is declining, and learning has stalled as students become increasingly reliant on their phones.

As a dad, this deeply concerns me. That’s why I am so focused on policies that will instill the best values in our next generation. This starts by restoring a quality education across our country through phone-free classrooms.

Schools across Virginia have already removed phones from classrooms, and I’ve heard from teachers, students, and parents alike: it’s working. Students are talking to each other more. They’re paying closer attention. Social anxiety is down, attendance is up, and learning is finally getting back on track.

Social psychologist Jonathan Haidt, author of The Anxious Generation, agrees: phone-free classrooms can boost educational outcomes and improve mental health.

I believe we owe it to the next generation to give them the best environment to grow — and that starts in the classroom.

If you agree, add your name as a citizen cosponsor of my bill. Together, we can put students first. Our students need us.
