[link removed] [[link removed]] John,I’ve seen a lot of dangerous proposals over the years, but what’s being floated right now is one of the most chilling.
The Trump administration is reportedly considering a strategy to use century-old civil rights laws, originally written to protect Americans from conspiracy theories and dangerous groups, to prosecute election officials and voter registration groups.
Let that sink in.
They may seek to weaponize these laws to intimidate the people who make our elections run—people like your local election clerk or a volunteer registering their neighbors to vote.
If implemented, the effect would be direct: silencing the truth, criminalizing civic participation, and instilling fear in anyone who dares to expand access to the ballot.
I’m not going to stand by while they think about doing it. I’ve made it my life’s work to protect the freedom to vote in Minnesota. But I can’t do this alone. Will you please chip in $10 or more today to help us fight back against these attacks on voting rights? [[link removed]]

Here’s what’s at stake:
* The Department of Justice is all too often being twisted into a political weapon.
* Ce nturies-old laws meant to protect voting rights could be turned inside out.
* The possible message would be: “If you help someone vote, we’ll come after you.”
That’s why I’m asking for your support now—before the next phase of this dangerous campaign unfolds.
Together, we can stand up for voters and push back against this potential misuse of power. Please help me raise $10,000 this week to ensure we have the resources to push back. [[link removed]]
Thank you for always standing with me,
Steve
