Hi there ––
My name is Patrice Dykes, and I’m the proud mom of a Special Olympics Virginia athlete—my daughter, Kaitlin.
Kaitlin has been part of Special Olympics for over 11 years. She’s competed in softball, basketball, soccer—you name it. But what fills me with pride more than any medal is the incredible young woman she’s become. Kaitlin is strong, kind, driven, and a true advocate for inclusion. We even serve together on the Athlete Leadership Council, and I’ve had the honor of mentoring her as a Global Messenger for Special Olympics Virginia.
We’ve been a team from the very beginning, and I’ve had a front-row seat to her courage and joy.
As a mom, I know how much even a small act of kindness can mean to someone, especially to an athlete who’s worked so hard to be seen, included, and celebrated.
Can you sign this card to send a message of support and appreciation to these remarkable Special Olympics athletes (just like my daughter, Kaitlin)?
Your message might seem simple, but trust me, it will mean the world to families like mine. Thank you for celebrating the love, strength, and spirit of the Special Olympics community.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Patrice Dykes
