When Donald Trump was inaugurated a little over 100 days ago, he inherited the strongest economy on the Planet Earth.

Last week, that strong economy — which was growing for three years at a solid pace — officially shrank. 

So we’ve got a contracting economy, the chaos of the stock market, declining consumer confidence, projections of recession by major economists… How did we get here, after Trump promised a “golden age”??

We got here because one individual decided to bypass Congress, take taxing and trade power into his own hands, and take a chainsaw to the American economy.

The truth is, President Trump finds Congress an inconvenience. He doesn’t want debate, committee hearings, deliberation, or votes. He wants complete, personal power — and he’s taking it. 

We have to turn this around. The good news is that the Senate has the ability to do it! The bad news? So far, the GOP has largely cowered under Trump’s threats and refused to stand up for the American people. 

I’m working as hard as I can in the Senate to urge my Republican colleagues to take action — but I need your help. 

You have the power to to stand up and say you won’t just watch one wannabe-dictator tank our economy. Whether it’s through  protest, calling the Capitol, or spreading the word to your friends and family, please join me in this fight.
