Friend,
It's time congressional Democrats start to make noise about the climate crisis.
A few days ago, 57 members of Congress sent a letter to congressional leadership urging them to prioritize clean energy in upcoming relief bills:
"As Congress develops forward-looking policies to rebuild the American jobs market and economy, we urge you to prioritize a robust clean energy recovery plan," they wrote to Senate Majority Leader McConnell, Speaker Pelosi, Senate Minority Leader Schumer, and House Minority Leader McCarthy. "We must work to recreate an economy that's stronger, cleaner, and more inclusive."
Sound familiar? It's clear: The pressure we're putting on Congress is working. We have momentum on our side, so we can't let up now.
So we want to hear from you: Do you support congressional Democrats prioritizing climate in the next relief bill?

The two big relief packages passed by the House so far -- the CARES Act and the HEROES Act -- failed to recognize the urgency of addressing the climate crisis. Massive as they were, neither package provided support for clean energy, a sector that shed some 600,000 jobs in the first two months of the pandemic alone.
But now, we're seeing newfound energy among Democrats to prioritize clean energy investment. Data for Progress polling shows strong public support for the ideas in our Clean Jumpstart Plan, a $1.5 trillion investment in the clean energy economy.
The story of America's economic recovery is just beginning. Public pressure in the coming weeks and months from people like you will encourage Congress to jumpstart the clean energy economy and put millions of Americans back to work.
I'd like to thank Representative Paul Tonko and Senator Martin Heinrich for leading the charge to urge congressional leaders to prioritize clean energy -- and I commend the dozens of other senators and representatives who signed on in support.
Now it's time to do our part and add our voices to theirs: Click here to tell House Democrats that you support prioritizing clean energy investment in upcoming relief legislation.
