“Republican Jefferson Griffin concedes N.C. Supreme Court race after months of legal battles” —NBC News

Republican Jefferson Griffin just conceded the North Carolina Supreme Court race to Democratic incumbent Justice Allison Riggs, bringing closure to one of the nation's most contentious and drawn-out judicial elections.

John, the 2024 election cycle is finally over — more than six months after Election Day.

As Attorney General Eric Holder said today:

"Justice Allison Riggs's dedicated efforts to vindicate the rights of North Carolinians are a lesson to all Americans in the fight to protect democracy on so many fronts: never tire, never back down. Never .

“Pressure from the people works to hold leaders accountable. Fighting in court works to enforce the laws enshrined to protect our rights. These are the lessons from this protracted struggle in North Carolina.

“Make no mistake, the delay in the certification of this free and fair election was completely unnecessary. Wherever our democracy is threatened, we must — no matter how long it takes — stand up for what is right.”

This isn’t just a victory for Justice Riggs — it’s a victory for our democracy.

The NDRC was proud to endorse Justice Riggs as a Democracy Defender. We were honored to stand by her as she fought to uphold the will of the people. And with your help, we'll continue to support candidates who will serve as key firewalls against Republican anti-democracy agendas across the country.
