Across the country, people are standing up and demanding justice for those who have been disproportionately harmed and killed by our criminal justice system. It’s clear that we need to rethink criminal justice and policing in this country, which is why I have joined with my colleagues in the House in cosponsoring the Justice in Policing Act of 2020.

The purpose of this legislation is to eliminate criminal behavior and misconduct in America's police forces. Period. That means making offenses easier to track and punish. It also bans practices like chokeholds and no-knock warrants in drug-related cases -- both dangerous protocols that led to the tragic deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor.

This is a moment that will define a generation. After listening to many advocates for reform, including those in the law enforcement community, I believe this legislation is a step in the right direction. But there's much more work to do, and I want to hear from you, John:
