[ [link removed] ]Katie Porter for Governor
Dear John,
The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office just released a new analysis
of Republicans’ proposed health care cuts, and it’s some bad news.
[ [link removed] ]Read on for my full health care update as of today, May 7, but first,
will you chip in $5 to support my campaign for governor, so I can keep
fighting to protect our health care?
Let’s start with a review. Congressional Republicans passed a budget
earlier this year that called for hundreds of billions in cuts to key
government programs. A report at the time found that it is literally
impossible to meet their goals without cutting Medicare and Medicaid.
Now, today’s new analysis shows us exactly what this is going to mean for
families. Enacting Republicans' top health care proposals will result in
millions of Americans losing their insurance.
The stakes are clear. Americans are going to die because they don’t get
the lifesaving care they need. Others will face financial ruin because
they just happened to get sick.
Here’s a bit of good news: Congress is still negotiating how to turn the
budget into actual policy. That means there’s still time to stop these
harmful cuts.
Public pressure works. We need to get loud and stay loud. Hands off our
health care!
Since launching my campaign, I’ve consistently said that our next governor
has to be a health care governor. [ [link removed] ]Can you chip in $5 today to send a
clear message that the people want leaders who strengthen our health care,
not slash it?
