Justice Democrats

John,

Self-funded multimillionaire Rep. Shri Thanedar, who currently represents Michigan’s 13th District, is misleading colleagues and trying to make himself look like a real Congressman, but only since working-class champion Donavan McKinney announced he’s challenging him.

On the same day as Donavan’s campaign launch, Shri announced that he’s introducing seven articles of impeachment against Donald Trump.

His thinly-veiled, self-interested political stunt backfired and his colleagues in Congress were furious. Not only did he sign up members of Congress as co-sponsors without asking, but he even suggested he had the backing of Democratic Party leadership when he didn’t.

Tweet by Andrew Solender: Some House Dems are furious and think this is clearly connected to his contested Dem primary. “This is a self-own,” said one. Another said it “seems self-serving.” His use of official funds for a billboard “has everyone upset,” said a senior Dem.

Multiple Democrats who signed onto his rogue impeachment push have since withdrawn, and one anonymous Democrat told Axios, “It seems self-serving and not a genuine effort to rein in the president."

To make matters worse, Shri wasted official congressional funds to pay for billboards in his district promoting his impeachment stunt. We can’t say we’re surprised: his office was already plagued with accusations of poor constituent services, and he was even sued for fraud as a businessman.

This man tried to call Donavan — who has served more time in the State Legislature than Shri did before running for Congress — "inexperienced,” when his colleagues don't even trust him on something as monumental as impeachment.

Shri is not a serious Congressman, and the people of MI-13 deserve way better. Help us give them a progressive, working-class leader who will truly fight for them: split $5 or more to Justice Democrats and Donavan’s campaign now!
