Scrap metal and small electronics
We're hosting a free scrap metal and small electronics recycling event for households only. This event is in partnership with DTG Recycle and 1 Green Planet.
Not able to make this event? No worries! Free scrap metal recycling is available year-round at Olympic View Transfer Station, [ [link removed] ] Silverdale Recycling and Garbage Facility [ [link removed] ], and at many privately owned scrap metal facilities.

*What items are accepted?*
Kitsap households can bring one carload of scrap metal and small household electronics. We’ll accept most household electronics powered with a cord or batteries and scrap metal, including aluminum, copper, brass, insulated copper, aluminum wire, stainless steel, iron, steel, cast iron, tin/light iron, steel rebar, or lead.
For examples and more information on accepted items, please visit our Public Waste and Recycling Events webpage [ [link removed] ]. There are some electronics we cannot take, including TVs and computer monitors, so please be sure to check our not accepted list.

Tires
We’re collecting waste tires for free at a two-day collection event! This event is for households only. This event is in partnership with Washington State Department of Ecology. Funding for this event is provided by Ecology’s waste tire program [ [link removed] ]. Funding became available in late April 2025 with the need to spend funds by June 30, 2025.
*When: *Monday, June 9, 2025, and Tuesday, June 10, 2025, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. both days
*Where: *Kitsap County Fairgounds - Thunderbird Arena [ [link removed] ], 1275 NW Fairgrounds Rd., Bremerton, WA 98311
Tire collection event traffic route
*Accepted items*
* Limit of 15 tires per household.
* Tires from passenger vehicles, light trucks, motorcycles, lawn mowers, or wheelbarrows.
* Tires with or without rims.
*Not accepted items*
* No commercial or tractor tires. These will be turned away.
* No tires from businesses or organizations.
Businesses and organizations should hire a licensed tire carrier [ [link removed] ] to manage waste tires. You can also take commercial tires up to 22" rims to Olympic View Transfer Station for disposal. Fees apply at the transfer station.

Marine flare and fire extinguisher safety and disposal event
Eagle Harbor Yacht Club, Bainbridge Prepares, and Peninsula Fire are hosting a free marine flare and fire extinguisher safety and disposal event. This event is not hosted by Kitsap County. For questions about this event, please contact Eagle Harbor Yacht Club.

*Where: *Winslow Wharf Marina parking lot at 141 Parfitt Way SW., Bainbridge Island, WA

* Free disposal of unserviceable fire extinguishers
* Safe, free disposal of expired or unwanted marine flares and fireworks

GreenSheen Paint and the City of Bainbridge Island are hosting a free community paint recycling event for Kitsap households and contractors. This event is not hosted by Kitsap County. For questions about this event, please visit the event webpage [ [link removed] ].
*When: *Saturday, June 28, 2025, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Appointments are preferred but not required. Schedule an appointment on the event webpage [ [link removed] ].
*Where: *Bainbridge Island Public Works Facility, 7305 Northeast Hidden Cove Road, Bainbridge Island, WA

* Urethanes
* Oil-based and latex-based paints
* Acrylic paint
* Varnishes, shellacs, and lacquers
* Primers
* Clear coatings
Not accepted:
* Spray paints and marine and auto paints
* Household hazardous waste
* Paint thinners
* Driveway sealers
